Has anyone seen 21P yet. It is supposedly just over mag 7. It will skirt M36,37 &38 and on the morning of the 15th it goes right through M35. It just passed Capella. Hopefully the mag is correct and we should get some images, weather permitting.

Re: Comet 21P
I was hoping to sneak out tonight and get a peak but it won't rise until nearly 10pm. Too late for me on a work night. Perhaps Fri or Sat nights weather permitting.

Re: Comet 21P
21P will be at its closest in 72 years, Sept 10 is closest approach, and reportedly at mag 6.5 to 7 (visible in binos). This article provides a variety of star charts for where to look:

(It also mentions Comet Wirtanen, which will be coming very close to earth in mid-December, with a possible mag of 3.5 to 6!)

Here is a three Panel chart for the night of the 11th at around 2:00am. Upper left panel is naked eye, right panel is in a finder scope or through a telrad. Lower panel is in a low power eyepiece.
