Ahhhh, SPRINGTIME!!
When we reach the spot in our year-long orbit that puts us in the front row for galaxy-viewing.
M51, The Whirlpool Galaxy, can ben seen dramatically cannibalizing poor little NGC 5195.
This first image of M51 was taken on March 26, 2011. SBIG ST-8300 CCD camera on a 5" Takahashi refractor. 2.5 hours of exposure time.
Fast-forward twelve years to this past week. SBIG STT-8300 on a 11" Celestron SCT. 9 hours of exposure time.

Fantastic job of imaging M51 !
Your colors and details really bring out the interaction of these two galaxies.
