M52 and NGC 7635 Bubble Nebula

Unread post by menardre »

Last night was much better. After the winds died down I decided to image the M52 Open Cluster and NGC 7635 (Bubble Nebula) combination. I selected these objects since the weather forecast clouds at 10PM so I had limited time to complete the imaging. Imaging an open cluster does not require long exposures or a lot of subs, but trying to also image the Bubble Nebula adds to the number of subs required. I started as soon as it got dark (about 5:30PM) and was imaging by about 5:45PM.
M52 is an open cluster in Cassiopeia. With an apparent magnitude of 5, it is bright enough to see with binoculars.
NGC 7635 (Bubble Nebula or Caldwell 11) is and emission nebula. The 'bubble' is crested by the stellar wind from the massive hot 8.7 magnitude star nearby.

I took 120 images of 2 minutes using SVX130 refractor, ZWO ASI 071 camera and Falcon rotator.

Beautiful, Roger. And always such a pleasing region to take in. Great job!

Nice Roger, you are making good use of every moment of clear sky! I planned to go out last night but passed when I saw clouds on the horizon around 7 PM.
