Hiding out in H Alpha
Hiding out in H Alpha
I had the chance to take some subs the last 2 somewhat clear nights, cold as they were. BRR!
I pointed the 135mm lens straight up at Auriga with an H Alpha filter and came away with a wider field of view than my last attempt. I have no idea what I captured beyond IC 405-10. I am intrigued by the round cloud in the upper right of the image, and I do think I got all three of the clusters, M36-7-8. I will eventually post this on Astrobin where they will automatically identify and number this complex web of beauty. Can't wait to give this a try under dark skies sometime!

Re: Hiding out in H Alpha
Here's the description chart ( NGC2099 is M37, NGC 1960 is M36, and NGC 1912 is M38).
They don't seem to identify the objects on the upper left, therefore I declare the fuzzy round cloud as IC ASSNE 2019.
BTW, I hope to get more subs in January to create a smoother image. As you can see,the two posted are pretty noisy, as they have no Flats or Darks.

Love it, Tom! You know winter is here when we start working Auriga.

Great shot.... how long was the exposure? Just goes to show how impressive wide filed astrophotography can be!!
