Mark,

Let me dig through my "astro-crap" box an see if I can find some Losmandy stuff or something which will work. No guarantee's but you might be amazed what I can sometimes find in that box....

I've an "astro-closet" like that Matt. I'm amazed at some of the stuff I come across. Seems almost yearly I unload a bunch on ebay or CN & it still seems to multiply.

I went to the observatory at UMD last night to measure for the Losmandy DUP, and to gather the EP's to take them home to inspect, catalog, & clean them. When I was there I fired up the scope and the "noise" in the RA is back. I know a self fixing scope was too good to be true.

Under Pete's guidence we will be removing the scope from the pier to investigate a fix. Pete requires some muscle to assist with the removing the scope. Pete emailed the following...

We’ll need to disassemble the scope into it’s 3 sections, removing it from the pier. We will then need to open up the base and investigate. I’m available most of the time, but I’ll need at least one person to work with me on this and that person is going to have to help with some heavy lifting. We need a dry sunny day to do this work. Chances are very good that I can effect a repair on the spot.

As a fallback, we can mount my 12â€

Mark and or Pete,

I could help out Saturday afternoon if the weather clears but right now the forecast looks bad rain/sleet/wind.

Have we picked a time/day to remove the 16" from the pier & attempt the repair? I have Saturday afternoon after 3 pm available.

I have run up against a challenging week. I could be available earlier on Fri, but not after 3pm.

Hi all,

Friday's out because of the weather. We need a bright dry day. The observatory is too dark to "operate" in if we can't open the dome. Saturday might work. But not too early. We'll have to see how the weather plays out.
