First James Webb Color Image.
First James Webb Color Image.
Today NASA released the first color image from the James Webb Telescope. It shows a galaxy cluster known as SMACS 0723 and looks back about 13.8 billion years. The image also show a good amount of gravitational lens. Here is the image for those who haven't already saw it.
Images due to be released on Tuesday include, The Carina Nebula, Southern Ring Nebula, Stephen's Quintet, WASP-96b and SMACS J0723.3-7327. If you are unable to see these images released on Tuesday you can visit the NASA website https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/godd ... iverse-yet for more information and images.

Thrilling image, isn't it?
I can't wait to see more, especially Stephen's Quintet. It could very well turn out to be Stephen's Quintillion!

Re: First James Webb Color Image.
Can't help but to want to compare.
I'd rejected this Stephan's Quartet back when as it was taken on a windy November night in 2021 as the stars are bigger than the galaxy cores. But it's comforting to know that we amateurs are capable of working the same objects as the Hubble and the Webb.

Pete,
It just makes my blood boil that they could have come to you first and made a deal that would have cost so much less for an image that is almost but not quite just as good.
