Re: NGC 6946 Spiral Galaxy and NGC 6939 Open Cluster
Roger, I think Skytools is perhaps one of the best astronomy programs out on the market today. Believe me, I own most of them. I have the observing edition and it can do anything I ask of it. As you mentioned, with the observing edition it tells you what is up in what part of the sky. What time is b...

Re: Four Student Summer Projects
Mark, You toughly impress me with the projects you do with these students. The amount of data you collect is amazing. I personally don't know if I would have the patience to dive into the projects you undertake. Not to mention to figure out how to establish where to begin with your projects. I hope ...

Re: Sun 'n Moon
Steve,
You are making me want to sell my PST and buy a Lunt. I am very impressed with the detail you are seeing on the sun.

Re: M92 and M107
Roger,
Great images of two fine globs. I wonder if you have ever tried the challenge and imaged M15 specifically looking for Pease 1 in the image.

Re: Meade Instruments
Both are great Rose. Feather Touch is just a bit better as far as fine focusing and smoothness of use. Andy has a Feather Touch on his 18" dob and you can feel the difference between my Moonlight and his Feather Touch. But again, if you go with a Moonlight you wont be disappointed. I personally...

Re: Meade Instruments
Rose,
Can't go wrong with either a Moonlight or a Feather Touch focuser. A bit pricey but worth every penny. I may consider upgrading my Moonlight on my 16" to a Feather Touch but we will have to see how Stellafane affects my pocket LOL..

Meade Instruments
I was briefly reading an article in Astronomy Technology Today where Orion Telescopes has acquired Meade Instruments. Should be an interesting development. More information can be found here www.telescope.com

Steve,
Wanted to ask you last night what HA scope you were using but I forgot after watching your great moon images.

Tracking Apophis live.
As of 11pm on Sunday night a livestream was started on YouTube that is tracking Apophis. I have no idea how long the stream will last but you can view it here if you are awake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLMG2CpzWVg Just look for the cursor arrow on the screen to see where Apophis is. Best view...
