Bob, I hope you do manage to bag 177p at Arunha Hill. From all accounts though its one of the harder comets to see this year. It pretty much is showing no tail and is at about mag. 13.8 now. The only thing we have going for us is that it is in an easy position in the sky with several guide markers t...

Dan, As I and a few others have learned in the past that predicting a comets mag is very hard to do. I have three plotting programs and all three give it from mag 9.0 - 13.2. What mag is it really? Your guess is as good as mine. We will just need to keep hunting and hope that it is found. That is wh...

Dan, My dob is not quite as heavy as Bruce's SCT but it is very awkward. The tube weighs 35 lbs and base weighs 32 lbs. I managed to man handle it the 100 yards to the observing site with no problem. I to had to make 3 trips with tube, base and equipment. At the time I had a bad heart valve leak and...

Dan, Take my advise on this. Take the largest scope you can to Stellafane. It is really an experience that you need to see with your best and biggest. You will not be sorry you did. Even if its a bit tight riding up you will be very happy for that slight bit of the uncomfortable journey on the way u...

Bruce,

What didnt we have nice views of at Stellafane? :D It was all good...

Dan,

That being said you sould be compiling a list of objects that you would like to observe at Stellafane because its not to often that you get a chance to see objects like you are going to see them at Stellafane.

Dan, You should have no trouble at all finding and seeing the Veil Nebula with your refractor. Both low and high power are fine for the veil with a dark sky. You can view the whole complex at low power or boost it up to get segments of the complex. Just dont try observing it with a moon up, its not ...

Dan,

You may want to try a pair of 14mm W70s I am not sure if Mark can still get the 14's but I am sure you could find a pair on Astromart. I have one and I believe Mark probably has one and I would be willing to let you try it in your Binoviewer if you want to give it a shot..
