Could be mis-alignment at the eyepiece tube? There always seems to be some play and especially if the EP holder has only one thumb screw to hold the eyepiece (or camera) instead of three, that may skew the axis of the camera? I did that about 6 months ago but the original battery Duracell used was no longer available, just a cheap foreign immitation that worked for 15 minutes here and there around the house but when it came to doing some real work- wah wah wah...

This is the case I keep my fly tying tools and materials in, something like this but smaller would be perfect, plenty of storage for a multimeter, wire strippers spare jacks and other parts and it has a big sturdy handle. If I can find one about half this size would work.
