177P Barnard

Yeah, I'm just trying to throw Paul off the scent until I can find this for myself.... I have read a credible report from someone on Cloudy Nights who saw and imaged the comet, using an 18" Obsession, and he says it is a tough one. In his 18" he describes the comet as faint, with no...

177P Barnard

The more I think of it, the more I want to bag this sucker. On Fri at Arunah, it will be 1.5 degrees from mu Draconis. Draco is one constellation that I hate. It is like Eridanus, just a wandering chain of whatever leftover stars from other constellations just happen to be there. I always have to us...

177P Barnard

A tardy observing report from Thursday. I set out for my dark site in Little Compton, but some clouds convinced me to stay at Pardon Gray Preserve rather than heading all the way into south Little Compton for less than good skies. If 177P were ever easy to find, Thursday couldn't have been more idea...

177P Barnard

Die-hard, indeed!! I have checked the latest ephemerides at MPC, and they are still holding this thing at mag 13.8. Like we are really going to find this thing from the clubhouse, with mag 4 skies!!! Hey, I Googled '177P' and about the tenth entry on the list was this thread!! Too funny. Talk about ...

I, too searched for the comet last night, but only had 35 minutes of clear skies before the clouds rolled in. I developed some detailed charts for the night, and went out to observe. Hercules was barely visible in some spotty clouds at 9, but by 9:15, the keystone was clearly visible and I went to w...

Stellafane

You are most welcome to stand next to my dob with your O-III filter :P Lowest power will give you some awesome views of the Veil. I am compiling a list of nebulas for Stellafane. I am going for obscure globs and faint stuff this year. Of course, as soon as we see that great sky, all we do is jump fr...

Very nice, Dan. Pretty soon you'll be as famous as 'Barlow Bob' and you won't be able to observe at night, cause you'll be up all day showing people the sun LOL!!! Good thinking to bring the scope along on a completely non-astro event day. It can only help to inspire, that's for sure.

Good job.

binoviewer ep's

Hi, Dan, great new thread! I'm sure others will use it, too. I think Burgess offers some of his ep's in pairs specifically for the binoviewer, and I have read good reviews on them, saying that they are great, and not expensive. High Point Scientific in NC (I think) also sells Burgess stuff for binov...
