Cool Astronomical Event TONIGHT - March 26
Skies are looking to be crystal clear later tonight for a rather unusual event. From nightfall until the wee hours of Monday morning, we can watch minor planet, Ceres, pass in front of a spiral arm of galaxy M100. This event occurs high in the sky, just trailing the hindquarters of the constellation...

Whirlpool Galaxy (revisited)
Ahhhh, SPRINGTIME!! When we reach the spot in our year-long orbit that puts us in the front row for galaxy-viewing. M51, The Whirlpool Galaxy, can ben seen dramatically cannibalizing poor little NGC 5195. This first image of M51 was taken on March 26, 2011. SBIG ST-8300 CCD camera on a 5" Takah...

But that makes me want to rotate the image to give the mid-waist accessory the proper slope.

Re: NGC 2666 Open Cluster testing 5 meter USB3 cable
Hi Roger, I ran into this problem with USB 3.0 a couple of years ago. With the purchase of two ZWO webcams (color & mono), I wanted too be able to hook up the camera out in the dome and run the signal into my basement office. I've used a powered USB 2.0 powered extender for years to send CCD sig...
