Tom, I was trying to even FIND the bubble the other day and gave up! Good stuff, especially the 9 minutes.
Of course, now, you'll have to make a separate compartment in the camera case to house the DM.

Re: Skyscraper outreach event in Bristol RI
Sure, Pete, I'll be there too. It'll be the first astronomy event I can walk to!

Focal reducer/field flattener
The stars on the outside edges of images taken with my DSLR @ prime focus through the 80mm refractor get elongated a bit and I am wondering how effective the focal reducers/field flatteners are. Williams Optics has one, as well as the Televue .8 reducer flattener. These are a bunch of $$$ and I wond...

Re: Arunah Winds
Thank you both for the kind words. Maybe I'm starting to get the hang of this imaging thing. Patience and attention to detail are key. Perhaps I lucked out at Arunah Hill with polar alignment. Either that, or, the little DSI guide scope made out of the old Coulter finder was working well along with ...

Re: Might as well stay home?
It would be quite naive to think I might dwell on the same plane as the best imagers in our club. Nevertheless, even at the beginner level that I presently occupy, I submit this image of M27 as further evidence that, light polluted skies are no match for astro-imaging! About an hour of various expos...

Arunah Winds
In spite of the winds and cold nights, I managed to get this image of M8, which is my first guided one using PHD, CG5GT, Stellarvue 80MM, Canon Rebel. I will see about adding some color in post processing. What a fine time with the ASSNE group! Even with the Springfield light dome, this is a pretty ...

Re: MARKARIAN'S CHAIN ( M84, M86 GALAXY CHAIN)
Commander, If, when you send S & T (or any publication) the article on your magnificent achievements with the WO66, and they don't believe you, send this photo showing what you really used! Screw'em if they don't believe you! We all know what you have been doing and I, for one, am absolutely ama...

Re: Finder scope as a guider
Pete, For clarification: In the observatory, I plan to use my 80MM as a guide scope on the CGEM 11" SCT. When in the field, I use a CG5-GT mount with the 80MM as the primary imaging/visual scope. The little 8X50 finder scope made into a guide scope would be going on the 80MM for imaging. I figu...
