Oh my, a giant hole is opening up on Jupiter!
This could have been the title of an old 50's sci-fi movie, eh?
I am just getting back into imaging and not having posted anything for a while, thought to post this from a while back. Cell phone through 70mm refractor

SGP plate solve with Ha?
Anyone using Sequence Generator Pro plate solving with Ha filter? I am constructing a 4 panel mosaic using SGP and have successfully plate solved using a clip-in light pollution filter with my DSLR and am wondering is SGP will have any difficulty finding stars during plate solve when I use a 12nm Ha...

Re: Sky Guider Pro setup
Pin point stars? My secret is the Ipolar camera mounted inside the Sky Guider Pro. The software allows pretty good alignment in less than 10 minutes. Of course, this is after you stabilize the surveyors tripod (very light weight aluminum) make it level and pretty close to pointing at Polaris.

Sky Guider Pro setup
Here is a shot of my new setup: Sky Guider Pro, modded Canon Rebel 450D, shoe mounted ZWO guide camera on mini-scope (and a bunch of cables!) One of the first light images attached was 13x2 minutes subs of the Sadr region before clouds came in. The addition of the guide scope should allow for longer...

Roger, awesome colors on the object! Did the color come in with the camera imaging or did you do something with processing ?

Re: Here's a neat astro gig
I was in the Coast Guard in the 60's. While on a cutter in the middle of the Carribean Ocean, and on the flying bridge for night watch, the sea was flat as a pancake and it was as dark as it gets. The stars and sky were amazing. I actually got vertigo when, as my gaze followed the stars overhead and...

Re: Fun with the JWST - II
Steve, did you collimate the mirrors? The clock could be very useful. Just think, if the sun came through the kitchen window, shined on the clock and focused the light onto a your morning coffee cup, you could keep it nice and hot.
Nice work!
