Nice job with a difficult target. I am impressed with your result especially with relatively small amount of exposure time. I went out last night and did not image due to the haze in the sky.... which makes imaging something like I10 very difficult.
Good to have you back imaging.

Sharpless 188 (Sh2-188) and my astrophotography website
I finally completed generating and uploading all of my images and write-ups for over 300 objects into my new website menardastrophotography.com.... check it out. Last week I imaged the nebula Sh2-188. It took me two nights since the first night clouded over earlier than expected. Sharpless 188 is kn...

Thanks...
Glad to hear that your system is starting to come together. I know how bummed out I get when I cannot use my observatory due to hardware/software issues.

NGC 1624 (Sharpless 212) Emission Nebula & Open Cluster
Last night was a really nice, crisp night. I imaged NGC 1624 in 2021, but was only able to capture 7 frames. So I decided to give it another shot. NGC 1624 is in Perseus, so it is low in the Eastern sky at nightfall. So low in fact that I had to wait until 7:25PM. The monitor in my observatory was n...

NGC 7217 Unbarred Spiral Galaxy
The past few weeks have been awful for imaging. The last time I was able to get out was Oct 4th!! Last night the almost full Moon was very bright, but I decided to try to image a galaxy in Pegasus. Pegasus is almost 90 degrees higher than the Moon, so I thought that I might be able to capture someth...

Personal website
I have been imaging for a few years and collected many images. Rather than have those images collect dust in my photo album, I had my son develop a website for me. We finished the final touches on the website design and I am currently uploading images, and creating documentation. Most astrophotograp...

Re: M71 Globular Cluster
Pete I also thought that Imaging globular clusters with only an hour or so of integration was sufficient. I now find that longer integration time really does bring out more stars, both within and around the cluster. In this case, M71 is smack in the middle of our line of sight of Milky way, so it is...

Seeing M71 with the 18inch must have been great.

M71 Globular Cluster
I imaged M71 a few years ago but was not really happy with the result. So I decided to give it another shot. M71 is a globular cluster in Sagitta. It was originally classified as a dense open cluster. As you can see from the image, M71 is in the middle of a rich field of stars since it is located wi...
