Re: Cosmic Background Radiation
To mrgizmo65 : The evenness is attributed to two factors generally 1) the relatively equal amounts of matter and antimatter involved in the big bang. Which means there will not be a lot of normal matter left over and 2) The rapid rate of inflation which spread the contents of the matter evenly throu...

Re: Cosmic Background Radiation
Well an interesting thing is that if time was created in the Big Bang as essentially a spatial dimension then essentially the universe is eternal. Because there was no time before it's creation. Just saying, so while you could say the universe had a fixed point of origin we can call this time = 0 th...

Re: Cosmic Background Radiation
My understanding is that if the steady state model was correct there would be no CMB to begin with. The CMB as I understand it is basically the decaying echo of the big bang without the bang there would be no CMB. The problem as I understand it if you did try to explain the CMB with the steady state...

Re: "Almost Impossibly Awesome" Pluto Images
Yes I have been really blown away by how dynamic and interesting both Pluto and Charon have been. It makes me excited for how many more treasures might be in the Kuiper belt and Oort cloud.

Re: $ 100M SEARCH FOR E.T.
I totally agree with Jerry if a civ was able to travel here to do us harm there is nothing we could do about it against that kind of technology. I just can't think of anything we have that you couldn't get elsewhere easier and cheaper. If it's metal then go get an asteroid. If it's water go get a co...

Re: A very deep shower thought found online
according to this article http://www.fvza.org/science2.html vampires have a body temperature of 60 F way above the 2.7 Kelvin of surrounding space. They should easily show up on an infrared spectrum. Kind of like how when they cloak the klingon bird of prey you can still see it's exhaust.

Re: $ 100M SEARCH FOR E.T.
I still remain skeptical of the idea of extraterrestrial contact. For instance one of the main techniques that SETI has always focused on is listening for radio signals. However what if they don't communicate through radio then we will never find them. Maybe they have some kind of hyperspace transmi...
