Re: I bought a piece of the MOON!

Very good question Mike, and I may have the answer. It is simply that Africa's climate is a great place for a meteor to fall. There is very little weather in the areas where the meteorites are falling so iron meteorites don't rust and stony meteorites don't erode. The two most common places that met...

Re: NGC 133 NGC 146 NGC 103 and an unknown red nebula

Roger,

Here is a widefield image of both Sharpless 172 and 173 and to me it appears that Sharpless 173 is above NGC 103 and Sharpless 172 is to the far right of NGC 103. Which matches up with this chart showing 173 above and 172 to the far right.

Looking at several charts including my Herald-Bobroff Atlas i think what you have is an artifact. Nothing is showing up in that area. I also looked up widefield images of the area online and none are showing the red nebula. Here are two charts for you to look at.

Re: For Those That Are Learning The Sky

Mike, Finding Andromedia, is a rite of passage for all of us in the hobby. It's too bad that our skies are so light polluted because at a dark site you know as well I do that Andromedia sticks out like a sore thumb in the night sky. I have to confess that my very first object I ever found with my Ha...

Re: Grab the Popcorn!

I couldn't agree more Steve. It was so cool watching Dart zooming in on the asteroid and seeing the detail materialize as we watched. Now a bunch of new scientist take the torch in the next phase of the mission and measure if Dart actually changed Dimorphus's orbit.

Re: Battery pack

Jerry, As far as the battery pack my friend has, it is brand new and we just did a series of test on it to see how it would work. It did out preform the older lead acid battery packs. The lead acid one could barely run a refrigerator never mind numerous other items. The company is very reputable and...
