Ioptron good service
My Ioptron Skyguider Pro (bought used Cloudy Nights) has performed quite well. However, the clutch to secure the imaging load has been hard to set and release. So, I emailed tech at Ioptron and they sent me a PDF showing how I could dismantle and affect repairs myself. I chose to send it to them to ...

Re: NGC7000 new proccesing versions
Here is another version of the NGC7000 that I recently posted. Mike M. used the "Auto White Balance" tool in GIMP to brighten it up and I like what he did. Thanks for adding to my knowledge base Mike! So, the process in summary: IP ArcSinH for initial stretch, Star Size Reduction, Halo Sha...

Re: NGC7000 new proccesing versions
Mark, I used a tool in IP which allows you to re-size the images (needed to combine) and then combine. I tried other methods like Deep Sky Stacker, but could not make it work because the size must be the same. Yes, converted the Ha subs to "red" looking before combining. Pete, The Ha was 4...

NGC7000 new proccesing versions
Having fun re-processing NGC7000 using I.P. These were taken from Bristol last fall with Skyguider Pro and 180mm Nikon lens on modded Canon rebel. This is my second attempt at combining Ha and regular exposures. Any comments on which one is better? Or, are they both crap?

Re: IC 361 Open Cluster
Roger, I had a similar issue with my trusty laptop which served me for years. It connected alright but froze up occasionally during a long night of imaging with SGP ( I, nice and warm in the house though) So frustrating when you go out after the session should be done, to find it froze part way thro...

Roger, your new web site is awesome! Each object displayed has a ton of info covering many aspects of the object, your process, etc. Thanks for sharing with us! However, now, with the quality of your fine images, I am can't decide if I am "Educated and Inspired" to continue or If I should ...

Roger, I like the SPCC version as well. BTW, do you use any sort of light pollution filter on the scope?

Roger you captured what looks like an extra-stellar embryonic creature in the early stages of development. Sure glad it's 42 million light years away!
Really good capture.
Really good capture.

Re: Sharpless 115 (Sh2-115) Emission Nebula
Very nice work Roger! Did you take Ha separate or, are the subs the natural result of the camera? I need to look into StarXterminator!
