Re: Pleiades Wide Field

Chuck, can you brief me on the nature and relationship of step down rings and wide open iris? Why did you get spikes without step down and why step down eliminates them. Thanks.

Re: M31 test

Thanks Chuck. This effort was really just experimentation of a new rig. As you mentioned, more integration is in order. Plan to resume down the road. Clear Skies!

Re: SharpCap issue

Thanks Tim! In my case, the gain was what got stars to show up. What a relief! Thought I was going nuts as the camera was focused and was used for guiding on another rig.

M31 test

Mounted an Astrotech 72mm on the Skyguider Pro to see if it would balance and perform on this RA only mount. Used modded Canon Rebel through a .8 flattener/reducer and took about an hours worth at 25 seconds each frame. Started the SharpCap on a mini 130mm guide scope to polar align and thought I ha...

Re: Messier's #1 - The Crab Nebula

Steve, very nice! I especially like the way you got that misty/cloudy area to seemingly pop in front of the red tendrils in the middle of the Crab.

Re: SharpCap issue

Pete, I only use SharpCap for polar alignment. Currently using Sequence Generator Pro for lights/darks/flats, etc.
I know SharpCap has lots of features but I am so used to SGP that I can't change right now. Sorry. Maybe Tim will chime in as he has used SC for a while.

Re: SharpCap issue

Thanks Pete.
BTW, last night pointed the guidescope at the stars, and found that adjusting gain way up high produced stars on SharpCap. Guess that's all it was.

Re: SharpCap issue

Pete, thanks for responding. Who is Robin? If that is a customer support person, I would be interested in communicating with them.

SharpCap issue

Can anyone comment on an issue I am having with SharpCap. Using a QHY mini guider to polar align with SharpCap and not getting stars at all. When I shine a light into the scope, the screen goes white so it is connected. This guide scope is in focus for sure since I use it as an autoguider so the pro...
