Re: Comet 12P / Pons-Brooks
I am glad that somebody was able to image the comet.
I agree that the advent of this new technology really opens up the field of astrophotography. The results are really amazing.

Thanks ... it was struggle, but I was determined to get out and image something. Taking 184 images was a big help since it allowed me to cull out the images impacted by wind gusts (which were many).

NGC 4228 Barred Dwarf Irregular Galaxy
The nights suitable for imaging have been few and far between. Last night was far from ideal. The Moon was bright and there were 15 to 20 MPH wind gusts. I decided to give it a try anyway. I decided to image the barred dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 4228. It is situated in Canes Venatici so it was prett...

NGC 3501 and NGC 3507 Spiral Galaxies
Last night I was able to get out and image NGC 3501 & NGC 3507 galaxies in Leo. Leo is situated ideally for imaging since it is low in the East at twilight. Both are spiral galaxies but NGC 3501 is edge-on while NGC 3507 is face-on. I was able to acquire 130 images (2 minute subs, -20C, binned 1...

Thanks ... this image was a bit of a struggle.
The weather does not look good for imaging for at least a week.

NGC 2366 Irregular Dwarf Galaxy
I was able to get out a few nights ago and decided to try and image the dwarf galaxy NGC 2336. I setup for imaging around 7PM and noticed some wind gusts. At the time I did not think that the wind would be a problem, so I did not install a wind shield or even remove the dew shield ... that was a big...

Re: IC 361 Open Cluster
Tom Thanks. I always said that if astrophotography was easy, anyone could do it. Every now and then we all have to work through difficulties. The positive side of this is that it forced me to retire my old computer and spend the time with the replacement. Having the bright Moon forced me to image so...

IC 361 Open Cluster
A few nights ago had a problem with my computer connecting to my CEM120 mount. I kept getting a notice 'cannot find a supported iOptron device'. I tried using a different USB cable, a different USB port, turning off/on the mount and computer. None of those efforts fixed the problem. Watching the com...
