Correct ...no filter.
I am surprised that I did not even get any sky0glow from the Moon.

NGC 4490 Barred Spiral Galaxy and NGC 4485 Irregular Galaxy
The Moon was almost full, and very bright last night. I decided to try and image a pair of galaxies in Canes Venatici, since it is fairly far from the Moon. My last attempt at imaging resulted in 'finger-like' smudges on all images (which were processed out using flat frames). I found that the ZWO A...

Thanks for your comments.
Pete--- I agree that sometimes astrophotography can be frustrating, but then if it was easy, anyone could do it.

Messier 88 Spiral Galaxy
Finally .... a clear night! We are about 10 weeks into 2024 and so far I have only been able to image 8 times due to cloudy/rainy weather (or full Moon). I did get out last night to image Messier 88. I have been wanting to image both M88 and M98 (both in Coma Berenices) for a while. I don't know why...

Solar eclipse 'diamond ring'
My wife and I were in Lake Placid for the total eclipse. I setup my ES80 refractor with a Nikon D7100 DSLR on a iOptron CEM26 mount to do some imaging. I used the technique that I talked about in previous ASSNE meeting to perform a daytime alignment. I started imaging about 10 minutes before first c...

Nice shot of Leo Triplet...which is one of my favorite galaxy groups.
Good to see you are back imaging. Now if we can only get a few good clear nights...

Re: Comet 12P / Pons-Brooks
I am glad that somebody was able to image the comet.
I agree that the advent of this new technology really opens up the field of astrophotography. The results are really amazing.

Thanks ... it was struggle, but I was determined to get out and image something. Taking 184 images was a big help since it allowed me to cull out the images impacted by wind gusts (which were many).

NGC 4228 Barred Dwarf Irregular Galaxy
The nights suitable for imaging have been few and far between. Last night was far from ideal. The Moon was bright and there were 15 to 20 MPH wind gusts. I decided to give it a try anyway. I decided to image the barred dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 4228. It is situated in Canes Venatici so it was prett...
