Quick finder, Telrad, or simply a finder scope - the choice is usually a preference and nothing more. But I wouldn't let you pry my Telrad from my cold, dead hands...
Leah was doing fine with her finder scope, but I think she would be quite surprised how easy it is to use a Telrad, and how much of the sky it opens up to you with so little effort. My preference for the Telrad has to do with the accuracy of the Telrad bullseye circles and how they let you get a good offset from marker stars, which is something that can't be done with a single-point aimer like the Rigel Quick Finder or the Red Dot finder on my binos. Good free Telrad charts are available for the more common target lists (Messier, Caldwell) and commercial books are available for many other types of targets.
Now Leah is a lot younger than I am, but I forgot how hard it is for somebody my age to use a straight-through finder scope on targets near zenith. My neck hurt for two days!

With a Telrad, it is a heck of a lot easier. Telrads and dobs just go together. And if you have a Telrad AND a finder scope, there is nothing you can't find...
