NSN Eclipse Megamovie Project

Unread post by Stargrrl »

From the Night Sky Network - a new citizen science project!

"Since 2011, a team of solar scientists, eclipse chasers, education and outreach professionals, and film makers have been working to explore the possibility of gathering images from the public during the 2017 eclipse across the United States, to be used for scientific research, education, and enhancing the public’s experience of the eclipse.

The Eclipse MegaMovie hopes to meet these combined goals by training 1000 volunteers to take scientifically valid images to donate to this project, while also allowing the general public to share their images. During the August 21, 2017 eclipse, the MegaMovie effort will analyze these images in real-time to produce public-generated movies showing the corona of the Sun during totality, taken by thousands of people, to millions more.

Find out how you can join this exciting project and check out the official site of the Eclipse MegaMovie Project at https://eclipsemega.movie/"

Perhaps some ASSNE members will have an opportunity to participate if they happen to get somewhere along the path.

Thanks for posting the link!
