I'm heading South next week, not way down south in Dixie but WAY down south in Aruba. And although the main reason is to attend my daughter's destination wedding, I am packing binocs and probably a small scope. And a DSLR to snap an image or two. Too bad bags don't fly for free on JetBlue, or I'd take the LX50
I'm working on my observing list, suggestions needed, it's been a long time since I've viewed -60 degree sky. I'm certainly going to try to view:
LMC - hopefully - it peaks at about 6pm, but still partially up at 8pm
Eta Car
Omega Centari
Crux
jewel box
coal sack
NGC3532 - looks good in Starry Night
M104 ... almost at zeneth
The bottom of Scorpio

Re: Whatzup Down South?
Bob if it would be useful you are welcome to borrow my 66mm ED refractor, it has a shoe to fit a camera tripod

Re: Whatzup Down South?
Wow. Cool. Bob, Are you going to post a report or was it too hectic--father of the bride and all--to observe much? Waiting to hear...
