After reading the link to greg stones web page that pete had sent i decided i would stay up to watch the metior showers. Orion cleared the neighbors house about 1:15 with gin clear skys. I sat and waited with my binos and a poor excuse for a cup of coffee. I toured the stars for a while and then saw the first of many fire balls streak by. It was a great quiet night.

I was blissfully watching the insides of my eyelids last night. Kudo's for enjoying a beautiful night with the Orionids. The Leonids are supposed to be nice (no moon) next month too. 8)

We should plan a spot where we can get together and watch the Leonids - weather permitting!

I must have been late

I must have awoke too late to catch the good display that you saw Joe. Good for you. I am glad that you had a good night of viewing. I didn't start until 3:45, and the meteors were very lean. :(

I was up at 4 am and I saw a great display of Orionids. What surprised me is at first I was looking towards Orion and every so often I would catch one out of the corner of my eye towards Ursa Major. So when I actually started to watch Ursa Major I was getting a count of about 1 or two meteors per minute. I stayed out for about an hour and had a great time with my version of lazy astronomy.
