M81 and M82

Unread post by menardre »

In keeping with my 'baby steps' approach to astrophotography, I took a series of exposures of the M81 & M82 region. I attached my Nikon D7100 to Stellarvue 90mm refractor. Controlled the camera and focuser with Images plus. Took 30 exposures 120 sec, ISO 1600 along with darks and biases, then used Images Plus IP for rudimentary image processing. Attached is the processed picture of the M81 & M82 region, along with cropped images of M81 and M82.

What can I say Roger- your "baby steps" produced beautiful images of 2 objects on my "top 10" list. Thanks for posting!

Roger,

Nice first steps! Practice as often as you can get out there. As my music teacher use to say - Better to practice 15 minutes a day, than 2 hours once a week.

This can be very frustrating at times, but as long as you enjoy the journey and have fun, it's all worth it in the end.

Look forward to seeing more as you progress!!

Hi Roger:

Another nice shot on your way up the learning curve. I have to second what Ron said about practice as often as you can. You'll learn something new each time out there. Look forward to seeing more. Thanks for posting.
