Recent Solargraphy

Unread post by Apollo XX »

Here's a beer-can solargraph image that I did at my parent's house this past winter-spring. I screwed the can to a tree in the yard last December, and took it down this June. I grew up in the house at the lower-center of the image. My parents have lived there nearly 60 years.

Cool! Can this be done with color paper or was this B&W and the color was added afterward?

Thanks Bruce and Ron!

Ron, the process is done with B&W photo paper but the end result comes out in color because the emulsion takes on a blue hue when the image is inverted during processing. There's also some serious stretching going on there to eek out the dimmer details, as in anything other than the sun trails. Solargraphy has zero scientific value, but it's fun and definitely has an artsy element to it.

Thanks Pete! Wouldn't it be great if we could get a whole bunch of members to deploy a camera? They're easy and cheap to build, and the results are always interesting.
