summer Milky Way over Frosty Drew

Unread post by Ronald Z »

Hey friends,

here is an image capture I did on June 9th of the summer Milky Way rising over frosty drew. Original capture was RAW with a
Canon 60Da on tripod with a Rokinon 14mm f2.8 lens. Converted and processed.

Enjoy!

Very nice, Ron!

I've not shot any ultra-wide field yet mainly due to the lack of a fast 28-10mm lens. I've read that those Rokinon lenses are highly regarded.

My quick math shows around a 90 x 60 degree FOV with your sensor.

I'm assuming this was a single frame. Exposure? What tools did you use in processing?

Thanks guys!

Yes, it was a single exposure between 30 and 50 seconds but probably closer to 35 seconds
indicated by the "500" rule to keep the stars pinpoints. RAW capture converted into PS CS4
and lightly processed to help bring out the milky way. Cropped and downsized.

Excellent image, Ron!
You've inspired me to unbox the 10-18mm zoom lens I just purchased a couple of months ago and hit the summer sky!
This will also be a great tool for lunar and solar halo's!

Also, thanks to your inspiration, I'm going to experiment with my lightning detector on top of my T3i this summer!

That's great Bill!

I will be interested in seeing your lightning captures with your lightning trigger.
Please post some images.

Clear skies!
