Comet Catalina US10 still showing off

Unread post by WCGucfa »

Wow!! I actually posted an image!
I'd like to get into how I succeeded in this, after months of failure, but I can't.
If it keeps on working, please excuse the backlog of images you will (hopefully see) in the coming days.
It may be the support and offers of help from a great bunch of fellow astronomers that got the wheels turning again.
Thanks guys! I almost gave up!

Bill G.

Comet C/2013 US10, Catalina, (my 39th snowball capture) floating by the Little Dipper on 2/2/16.
Canon T1i, ISO3200, 50mm lens, Tungsten white balance. Single frame @30 seconds. Antares 6" scope @ 24x afocal 40mm eyepiece.
Sky was unstable with milky cloud covering during exposure.

Nice capture Bill! I've yet to try my hand at a comet...seems likes a doubly hard challenge over the more steady/fixed type targets.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I wish I could tell you Ron, that this way of imaging takes the same skill that your images take to acquire!
The only real skill here is not breaking my neck carrying the equipment out to the yard! So far, so good.

Keep up your good work!
