Re: Total Lunar Eclipse images
Nice job Ron and Ron! Ron B., beautiful totality image! One of the better ones I've seen.
I got out there myself for the whole event as well, and also put together a montage of the sequence. Mine includes the full moons pre and post eclipse phases, and all in all it represents nearly four hours of time - 8:52pm to 12:42am. What a wonderful event!

"S"uper!
I don't know about Ron Z. and Mike, but I had a devil of a time with fog & dew that night. I had ground fog up to about 6-7 feet off the ground and the seeing/transparency was horrible.
It made focusing a real challenge and caused me to revisit the focus settings almost every 30 minutes.
All the equipment had water running off of it...

Re: Total Lunar Eclipse images
Great job guys!
Mike, I was so tired, my view of the phases were also dancing all over the place!
My rooster insisted on sleeping on the porch instead of his coop, and my camera
mysteriously flew off the scope!!?? (yes, I did catch it, a miracle in itself)
Am I superstitious? Yes...

Re: Total Lunar Eclipse images
Yes, I think the most defining common theme for all of us besides the event itself was the heavy dew. I felt it coming while setting up and got out an extension cord and hair dryer, which got plenty of use that night.

Super montages, guys!
I don't know about all this dew you guys are talking about, we had nothing like that in my neighborhood. We had neighbors over, a little camp fire with the kids toasting marshmallows, a couple pairs of binos, and the 8in dob. The views were unforgettable and everyone had a great time. I was thrilled seeing stars in the dob right up next to the limb of the blood red moon, even watched one occult and one emerge. I didn't do any photography, and all night I was hoping you guys would get some good shots and you certainly did not disappoint Thanks for those cool images!

Re: Total Lunar Eclipse images
Andy,
Family and neighborhood friends joined me at the local soccer fields for the event. Had the SW100ED setup for astrophotography and the SV60EDS/Porta II setup for viewing along with a couple pair of binoculars. All had a great time and hung out until nearly the end.
I too was amazed by the star field behind the Moon that night. Really made it extra special.
The totality image I posted was 5 seconds in duration. I have an 8 second one that shows the stars even better. I'll have to get that one posted soon.
Perhaps the "fire" kept the dew sub-dew-d?
