Thanks Pete!

Today brought a bit of a surprise - unexpectedly clear skies. At least early on, and I took advantage of it to get one last look In before the trip up to Stellafane. With Venus at just under 9* from the sun it was as good a time as any to employ the SuperMask to help protect from accidental sun exposure;

My imaging technique has its limitations, and it hardly does justice to the stunning view in the eyepiece of the brilliant white 1.2% crescent against a true blue sky. Visually the illuminated portion is as thin and sharp as can be, although the unstable daytime seeing causes it to jump around like crazy. August 12th added to the sequence;
