Venus and Jupiter take a Bow!

Unread post by WCGucfa »

On the night of July 4, Venus and Jupiter take a bow to a standing ovation for a
performance executed perfectly to a "T".
The two will be signing autographs in the theater during the next few nights, before going their separate (d) ways.

I see that my iffy delivery people got your tree back to you in time. Awesome use of it, by the way! I walked to the street last night, saw the bow, thought about taking a picture of it - and that was that. I'm glad you took the next step and actually took the picture. This will be Venus' swan song for this year, and what an evening apparition it was! Very memorable.

Thanks Mike. This ain't no easy game!! Talk about degradation of observing conditions!!
I went out to see what I could see and found Venus and Jupiter just barely visible through a layer of cloud and smoke.
I shouldn't have complained, because after that last thought, ALL HECK BROKE LOOSE!!!
I've learned to shoot back if I hear multiple loud noises and live to shoot back, so my camera just kept popping off images, reflex-like.
I won the battle because eventually there was no more popping and banging.
Interesting combination, this night after the Fourth of July, and planetary conjunction together.

I hope everyone had a good holiday!

Hey Bill Great shot, the trees give it a very nice setting. I am surprised how much detail you can get with that. low light, and not only you had to deal with that but there was also smoke at hight altitude from the canadian forest fires. I hope you can make the cook out, we haven't seen you in a while, Jerry

Thanks, Jerry!
I was pleased to see Jupiter actually did show up in the picture. I was constantly doing test exposures and hoped
ALL subjects would show up. There's a big difference between the exposure for planets and fireworks. At the moment
of imaging, I had no idea what the exposure for both in one picture was!
Thanks for mentioning the Canadian Fires. I saw a satellite image on the news and just knew this whole event was going
to make us work.
Leave it to the members of ASSNE to pull it off!! Good going guys!

@ Mike: Thanks for the extended use of the trees!
