Venus 3-28-15

Unread post by Thuban »

Here is a Venus image I got the other night. I had to take this over my roof so I couldn't get it sharp due to the heat rising off the house.

That's about what I saw on Tuesday as Venus sat directly over my smoking chimney :|

Ah well, a viewing is better than not seeing at all.

so true Pete. I think I am going to try out on my parking lot next time away from all the roof tops and see how that goes.

Very nice, unmistakably gibbous.

Venus has been beautiful in the evening lately.

Nice!
I think I see some mottling on the surface too! Considering the planet's edges appear
smooth, I'm ruling out turbulance on the face.

I should be able to get a better image soon actually. I just got a barlow lense for my camera mount. hopefully between that and some digital zoom I can get some awesome images.

I think I'll get out there this weekend also, to try for an image of Venus.
I'm not sure if I remember how!!!

Perhaps we can have a telescopic Venus shootout!
Keep an eye on the setting Moon tomorrow morning, for the eclipse.
I know, I know! A hole could open up in the cloud cover, though.

a Venus shootout sounds like fun! Because I just bought this Barlow lens I am sure it will be cloudy for the next month.
