Born-again Astrophotographer
Born-again Astrophotographer
Hello Folks,
After a topsy-turvy past few years, I am finding my way back to my passion. Astrophotography is something that I wish I had so much more time for. Last spring, I upgraded my CCD camera to a self-guiding SBIG STT-8300 with integrated filter wheel. I has taken me five (5) MONTHS to get it all set up and take my first image. I am committing myself to produce at least one or two new images each month. I've been lurking here on the Imager's Studio and admiring the images being posted by other ASSNE members. Keep it up!!
Here is a twisting, colliding region of hydrogen gas in the Cassiopeia region. IC 1805 (nebula) is the nebulosity associated with the Heart Nebula and Melotte 15 (cluster) is the group of young stars at center whose stellar radiation winds are triggering the red glow.

Welcome back, AstroGeek that is a beautiful image!
That's a great setup you've got. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your images as they come along.
