Zubenelgenubi
Zubenelgenubi
If you can't pronounce it then you can't look at the picture!
Seriously though, there was a lovely conjunction of Luna, Saturn and Mars last evening at twilight, and the six second exposure used in this image also resolved the alpha star in Libra, Zubenelgenubi. The star is a very pretty double that's easily seen in this snapshot of the SW sky taken at just past 8:00pm:

Thanks Andy! The double star was a nice surprise upon looking at the pictures. The name was just the icing on the cake! From Wikipedia: (pronounced "zoo-BEN-el-je-NEW-bee")

Nice shot Mike! It's been great having Saturn around for so long, I'm going to miss it!

Re: Zubenelgenubi
Thanks Bruce! And yes, this has seemingly been a fantastically long viewing run with Saturn. But for all intents and purposes it's over now, and I don't typically arise early enough for morning observing, which is what you'd have to do to see Jupiter for the time being. We're all going on a planet diet for awhile I think! Oh right, there's Neptune, but that's not very filling now, is it?

Re: Zubenelgenubi
Bill, only you would even know that there is a Zubeneschamali, and when I first saw your post I thought you made it up.
The only reason I found out about Zubenelgenubi is because the star showed up as a double in the image and I wanted to see if it really was a double or just a reflection. You have to just love some of the names of stars. It's like they went to the antiquity child care center and said to the kids "hey, what should we call this one"?

Mike,
These two were always my favorite star names! They look so complicated, but when you learn how to say them, you never forget!
Great image, by the way!

This image was done with a simple pocket camera on a tripod, with settings of ISO400, F2.8, Exposure = 6 Seconds.
