Gamma Cygni Nebulosity from Cherry Springs State Park

Unread post by AndyG »

Here is the image I took at my recent trip to the Cherry Springs Star Party. It was also my first chance to use a new flattener/reducer I recently purchased for my SV115 scope. I'm quite happy with how it all worked out. You can see a lot more detail if you click the image to view a higher resolution version.

The nebulosity is IC 1318. Gamma Cygni (Sadr) is just outside the frame to the left (you can see a little bit of blueish reflection from it.) At the bottom left is part of the open cluster NGC 6910. The dark lane running through IC 1318 is LDN 889.

I can't even begin to describe how much easier it is to process an image taken at a site that has virtually no light pollution!!!

Fantastic Andy, you must feel like that image alone made the trip worthwhile- Maybe we should try to get a club group together next year-

Simply fantastic! May I someday know the feeling of no light pollution!

Beautiful, Andy. Maybe a quick report to the club on Cherry Springs?
