1/3 Leo Triplet

Unread post by AndyG »

NGC 3628, the faintest of the 3 galaxies in the Leo Triplet.
I really would have liked to have collected more subs for this image, but seeing the lousy weather forecast I decided to go ahead and process what I had. It would have been good to have more exposure time to bring down the noise. As it was, it made the processing difficult and I lost some detail, especially around the edges of the galaxy. I'm looking forward to trying again when it comes back around next year.

Andy, despite your own assessment of the outcome, that's a mighty fine image of the only 1/3 of Leo without an "M" preceding it. There's some serious stuff going on there with those massive dust lanes.
