IC 417 Emission Nebula in Auriga

Unread post by AndyG »

I've been trying to image this target in between snow storms the past few weeks. Sky conditions have been pretty horrible with bad seeing. Though I managed to get about 16 hours exposure over several nights, I had to throw away over 9 hours of subs that were just no good, with fat bloated stars due to the poor seeing, or poorly focused when the seeing caused the auto-focus routine to fail to find the right focus. I salvaged the best 7 hours of subs and here's what I was able to put together. Not as much detail as I would have liked to see, but I think it still an interesting target and hope you find it worth looking at.
